The Digital Transformation Process

Our Digital Transformation Process will vary depending upon your organization's automation maturity and level of adoption, but a general outline of the process we undertake follows:

  1. Define the business objectives: After partnering with leaders across your organization to identify the areas of the business that will benefit from a digital transformation, TCE will define and document the goals, objectives and expected benefits of the transformation.  This information will be utilized up-front to set the scope of the transformation and in the end will be the yardstick we use to measure success.

  2. Assess the current state: TCE will evaluate the existing technology infrastructure, business processes, organizational structure and workflows of your business today.  The assessment will identify operations that need improvement or automation, potential roadblocks to a transformation and other inputs needed to define an all-encompassing plan for execution.  Whenever possible, key personnel and influencers from the affected business units should be engaged in this activity (along with #3 and #5) to gain their buy-in of the new processes, which will accelerate adoption of new digital technology and processes.

  3. Develop a roadmap: During this phase, TCE will develop a plan that outlines the steps required to achieve the digital transformation objectives, including timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.   If desired, TCE can also perform an RFQ Process during this phase and recommend partners, where needed, to complete subsequent phases.

  4. Build the technology infrastructure: In this phase, your team or selected implementation partners will put all of the necessary technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networking, in place to support the digital transformation.  This includes integration of disparate systems, to ensure they have the ability to seamlessly share data across platforms.  TCE, through its Vendor Management offering, can oversee some or all of the partners performing this body of work.

  5. Automate and optimize business processes: At this point, the systems and tools deployed in the prior phase are put to use, executing the vision for streamlining and automating business processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.  TCE will utilize the roadmap developed in #3 to monitor and report on progress as the business processes undergo their transformation.

  6. Training and cultural adoption: In this phase, all affected staff members are trained on the new technologies and processes to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to use them effectively.  TCE will also recommend specific action plans for programs to be executed in this phase to ensure the new digital technology and processes are effectively integrated into your corporate culture.

  7. Measure, monitor and improve: TCE will conduct an Initial measurement of the success of the project in this phase to determine if the goals and objectives outlined in the first phase have been achieved.  A follow-on engagement is available to provide ongoing monitoring of the performance of the digital transformation initiatives, as well as process improvement and optimization recommendations.
