The Project Governance Process
Our Project Governance Process is not intended to replace your internal project management methodology*, but rather to serve as a wrapper around it, ensuring efficient execution and providing actionable reporting to the project's Executive Sponsor(s) throughout the project life cycle.
Initiation: During this phase, the project is defined and the scope of the project is outlined. TCE will participate in this process, coaching the Project Manager and engaging with stakeholders to ensure a clear, well-defined scope of work is established with clear goals and objectives. A Project Charter document, signed by all key stakeholders, outlining the scope, desired implementation dates and expected budget for the project is the primary deliverable for this phase.
Planning: In the planning phase, a detailed project plan is developed. Any divergence from the Project Charter that is identified as the Project Plan is developed will be socialized with and approved by key stakeholders, then updated in the Project Charter.
Execution: Once planning is complete, the execution phase begins and continues through the end of the project. Throughout this phase, project team members will build or implement all phase deliverables.
Monitoring and Controlling: During this phase, which runs in tandem with the execution phase, TCE will monitor the progress of the project and engage with the Project Manager and other project resources, as needed, to keep the project on-schedule and on-budget. Actionable stoplight reports that track progress of the project deliverables, issues and risks will be provided by TCE to key stakeholders on a regular cadence.
Project Close: Once the execution phase has completed, TCE will partner with the Project Manager to conduct a Project Assessment, which evaluates the project against the timeline, budget and project scope established in the first two phases.
* TCE can also provide a completely turn-key project delivery capability executed by our experienced Project Managers, if desired, that also includes the oversight engagement outlined above.
